The 'Be The Ripple' movement was born in May 2020 to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Week, which this year had a theme of 'Kindness'. The theme is in perfect harmony with what 'Be The Ripple' is hoping to achieve.

Our mission is simple: to create a ripple effect of kindness that will operate collaboratively across sectors to pool resources, share ideas, share what works with regard to kindness in practice and develop strategies that are effective and can be shared. Professionals inspiring other professionals and acting as a catalyst for positive change to our working world.

Unkindness in workplaces often manifests due to perceptions of 'difference': this can be due to gender, race, disability, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, age, performance levels, or anything else that could perhaps be perceived as 'different'.

We believe that the first step to overcoming unkindness in workplaces is to open discussions and educate, leading to a more transparent culture and a psychologically safe environment in which individuals can thrive, bringing their best selves to work every day. The benefits of this to individuals and organisations is huge - imagine an organisation which harnesses its people and their energy to drive positive change and tap into creativity, diverse thought and innovation. Imagine a more hopeful future.

We wholeheartedly believe that each of us should all be able to work for a caring organisation, in a role that will enable us to live out our purpose, make a difference, make some money and leverage our strengths in order to help people and/or help the organisation to achieve greater success.

Creating better workplaces takes commitment from every single one of us and we aim for this collaboration project to bring together experiences from different organisations, identifying best practices, curating useful resources and encouraging discussion around this important topic. Being the ripple that makes the wave of change.

The Ripple Team (AK.A The Kindness Collective)

Together the team have collaborated on the development of the 'Be The Ripple' project, bringing a tiny ripple of an idea into the beginnings of a wave.
