This week is Anti-Bullying Week in the UK and the topic is something that is extremely close to our hearts in the #BeTheRipple team. To show our support for the wonderful work that the charity BulliesOut do around the topic of bullying, we have decided to post out pieces every day this week, amplifying voices, sharing stories and exploring the way that bullying makes people feel. We are happy to share another piece today for our blog series, the piece is entitled 'Little Black Book'. The author of this piece would like to remain anonymous. Over to our author: Little Black BookI note you are writing in your little black book Things to remember for you to say. I see you are writing in your little black book Should I be worried, do I need to pray? I catch you writing in your little black book So that you can catch me out one day. I feel you writing in your little black book Or maybe you are talking behind my back. I guess you are writing in your little black book Of the things you will find to give me the sack. I bet you are writing in your little black book To see how long before I crack. I see you reading your little black book Time to review our conversations. I hear you reading your little black book To tell me all about your frustrations. I hate you reading your little black book Word for word like the worst dictation. I sense you reading your little black book Even when I am out of the game. I know you are reading your little black book No longer there but still get the blame. I believe you are reading your little black book And hoping that I won’t make a claim. You didn’t need your little black book To have got from me the best you could. You didn’t need your little black book To manage me how you knew you should. You didn’t need your little black book In the end it did more harm than good. You don’t need a little black book To keep the score, to pass the test. You don’t need a little black book To make us perform at our best. You don’t need a little black book Give us a break, give it a rest! We don’t need a little black book To be the best that we can be. We don’t need a little black book To build respect and loyalty. We really don’t need a little black book. Trust me, you’ll see. Ann O’Nimus November 2020. Thank you so much to our author for sharing this piece, clearly demonstrating the damage that can be caused when trust, care, kindness and respect are not at the heart of relationships at work.
