A blog post, tall poppies and a Chief of Inspiration!
Our story began when Joanna Suvarna, who is hugely passionate about workplaces being free from bullying, harassment or unkindness of any type, wrote a guest blog post which was kindly hosted by Perry Timms. You can download a PDF of the post below:

The piece was around the topic of unkindness in workplaces, specifically work-related bullying brought about due to a perception of 'difference'. A concept known as 'Tall Poppy Syndrome' was one of the areas that was explored and so many people contacted Joanna to say that they had experienced something similar, or were currently experiencing something similar, in their workplaces that she felt compelled to tackle work-related unkindness head on.
Jenny Streeter was one of the people who read Joanna's blog post and she saw the potential to grow the piece into something more. She and Joanna chatted and they agreed that the message needed to be read and understood by those less willing to educate themselves, or acknowledge the depth of the work-related bullying problem. Jenny suggested the idea of creating a visual piece around the concept of the 'Tall Poppy' and they discussed the potential for further resources that could be used to highlight the issue.
Realising that something was needed on a larger scale if it was going to have an impact, a 'Kind They' came together, led through an Agile session by Perry Timms, to start the first ripples that would become the #BeTheRipple movement. We knew that something was needed on a larger scale if it was going to have an impact, something that would encourage collaboration and could grow organically - that is how the 'Be The Ripple' concept was born.
